Barca Starta Competition for Global Startups & Mobile Marketing Mixer Party at MWC 2013 …
For those who never tire of Startup Culture, there’s an exciting new event for global startups at this year’s Mobile World Congress: the “Barca Starta” competition, sponsored by Mobile Marketing magazine.
In tandem with the Mobile Marketing Mixer Party 2013, the Barca Starta competition will take place on Feb. 26th at the old Cervezeria Moritz factory (in Barcelona’s San Antoni neighborhood, downtown). The competition is seeking entries from companies that have been trading for three years or less, with a maximum of 20 staff. There’s no set annual sales/turnover limit, which means this competition could see some interesting submissions from early stage companies that are already cash-flow positive … a nice variation from the “we have a great app with no idea of how to monetize it” type of startup that one sometimes sees in such contests.
The Mobile Marketing team says they are:
… inviting start-ups to pitch for a place in the final of the Barca Starta competition, which takes place on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 February in Barcelona, with a party to follow. Finalists will be to give a two-minute presentation to the judging panel, explaining why their company should win.
The winning company, and one runner up, will receive cash prizes. We’ll also be giving wide coverage to all of our finalists – each presentation will be filmed to appear on our site following MWC, and we’ll be running features on the finalists online and in the June issue of our print magazine.
Open to startups around the world, the Barca Starta deadline for entries is 5pm UK time on Wednesday 6th February. More information and downloadable entry forms can be had on the Barca Starta website, here.
